Parenting
Anissa is passionate about improving family relationships and understands how one child who may express extreme emotions often can affect not just parents, but everyone in the family.
Parents can be left feeling exhausted and overwhelmed when they have a child who does not respond to typical parenting techniques that their other children do.
Because of Anissa’s passion in fostering and strengthening the relationship between parents and all their children, Anissa has dedicated much of her training around evidence-based parenting strategies. Anissa has achieved this through the combination of lived experience raising her own neurodivergent child and training in multiple evidence-based parent programs such as Circle Of Security and Triple P.
Anissa prefers to work with both parents whether separated or still together, as both parents learning the same strategies will see quicker and longer lasting results for their child diagnosed with ADHD, and the rest of the family.
Anissa is flexible in her delivery options depending on your circumstances, and will discuss what will suit your family’s individual needs with you.
The initial session will involve a thorough intake assessment to determine which intervention will be most effective for you and your child’s needs.
Goals of attending and learning parental training:
- Improve parental management and confidence in dealing with difficult behaviours
- To increase parents understanding of what contributes to challenging behaviours.
- To increase family harmony by improving parents use of positive attention, clear guidance, rules, and instructions.
- To increase parental problem-solving skills and positive communication styles-during problem-focused discussion.
- To alter parents beliefs of their children (specifically teens)
